The UConn Foundation has agreed on a five-year, $150 million fundraising initiative that will double the amount of money the foundation usually raises each year for scholarships.

The initiative includes $50 million in scholarships that will be paid out over the next decade and a $100 million endowment that foundation officials say will yield about $5 million in scholarships in perpetuity.
