Comments Off on School of Medicine Bylaw Amendments Election
Don’t forget to vote in the SOM election going on now through July 11th!!
There will be specific changes to the SOM Bylaws presented that will have a significant impact on the ability of faculty to be promoted. These proposals are:
1)A proposed change in the by-laws to amend the criteria for promotion and tenure in the Investigator and Clinical Investigator professional categories. The proposed changes would add grant support as an indicator either as a principal investigator or as key personnel on grants with collaborators.
2)A proposed change in the by-laws to create a new professional category to be called “Medical Researcher”, which is designed to be parallel to the Medical Educator professional category in that it will be available only to in residence faculty and will have no mandatory promotional clock.
3) Adding “Community Engagement” to the promotion and tenure criteria in all professional categories.
